Prayer is such a beautiful part of being a Christian. It is our direct route to talking to God. What a wonderful gift that we are able to approach Him at anytime and that He listens and answers our prayers. Even when we don't have the words to say, just speak from the heart and He will listen.

Prayer is such an important part of the Christian life, but it is easy to lose sight of this opportunity we have. In prayer we may ask questions or find answers that you didn't even know we were looking for. This simple act of conversation helps to maintain that special relationship between us and the Lord and we should take part in it every day.

As we are told in 1 John 5: 14-15 have confidence when you come to God in prayer knowing that He hears us and will grant us whatever we ask as long as it is in His will. Does it depend on how we stand or kneel, hold our hands, or where we are? No.

This, then, is how you should pray:
Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we have also forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
— Matthew 6: 9-13 NIV

Speaking with God is like speaking with a best friend. He does not care about how fluent or well spoken we are. He doesn't care if we mess up or get it just right. He longs to spend time with us and listen to all of the things that  concern us and bring us joy. What is important is that we enter into prayer with an open heart and mind. Simply begin a conversation. Send Him praises, ask for guidance, tell Him any needs, ask His forgiveness and ask for the ability to make correct choices. Don't forget to pause in prayer; this is a two way conversation. He wants to speak with us as well, so be open to listen. He wants to hear what is in our hearts and on our minds. Take time to tell Him today.
